Tangmere Medical Centre is a small, friendly General Practice providing general medical services to the local area.

We aim to provide a high standard of medical care and a caring, friendly and personal service to our patients. Because we are a small practice our doctors, nurses and reception team get to know many of our regular patients well.

We moved to our current spacious purpose built premises with its own car park for patients and staff in September 2009.

Flu Vaccinations

The Flu Vaccination season is starting in October again. This later start is due to advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. 

There is evidence that the effectiveness of the flu vaccine can wane over time and so by delaying when the vaccination is given, individuals are vaccinated closer to the time when the flu virus is likely to circulate (which typically peaks in December or January).

You can book your flu vaccination now, using the NHS App, SystmOnline, or by following the link when you receive a text message invite from the surgery.

The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

• From 1 September 2025:

  • pregnant women
  • all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
  • primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6)
  • secondary school aged children (from Year 7 to Year 11)
  • all children in clinical risk groups aged from 6 months to less than 18 years

  From October 2025, exact start date to be confirmed by NHS England in due course:

  • those aged 65 years and over
  • those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups 
  • those in long-stay residential care homes
  • carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
  • close contacts of immunocompromised individuals

Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.

Health conditions that mean you are eligible for the flu vaccine:

• conditions that affect your breathing, such as asthma (needing a steroid inhaler or tablets), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or cystic fibrosis
• heart conditions, such as coronary heart disease or heart failure
• chronic kidney disease
• liver disease, such as cirrhosis or hepatitis
• some conditions that affect your brain or nerves, such as Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy
• diabetes or Addison's disease
• a weakened immune system due to a condition such as HIV or AIDS, or due to a treatment such as chemotherapy or steroid medicine
• problems with your spleen, such as sickle cell disease, or if you've had your spleen removed
• a learning disability
• being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above

Please note any digital image sumbitted as part of  an online consultation, will be stored within your clinical notes.

We recommend that online consultations, undertaken on behalf of children under the age of 16 or vulnerable adults, requiring visual diagnostics (image or video) of a intimate area (genitals, anus, breasts) are not undertaken.
