We have three excellent Practice Nurses who all work part-time and have a wide range of skills: Nurse Annie (RGN, SEN) has wide experience in Accident and Emergency and District Nursing before becoming a Practice Nurse. Her particular skills include diabetes and wound care. She works closely with the visiting specialist diabetic nurses, who visit the surgery monthly. Nurse Joanna (RGN, SEN), has worked in hospital and in practice for some years. Her particular interests include respiratory illness, asthma, COPD and smoking cessation. Nurse Gaby (SRN) joined us recently with a long background in District Nursing and palliative care. Our newly appointed phlebotomist, Michelle, is eager to extend her roll to include other parts of patient care, helping to decrease our patient waiting time.
In addition we have other staff attached to the Practice.
The Health Visitor is Marian Down. She is in contact with all of our families who have children under 5. She is based in the practice but should be contacted via her own telephone number – 01243 815108. Messages can be left on this number.
The Midwives hold regular ante-natal clinics on a Wednesday. Maria and Mandy will look after patients who are pregnant, throughout the pregnancy. They also offer Parentcraft classes at the Surgery. If you are pregnant you can either be referred by the doctor or access the midwives directly.
District Nurses for the area are now all based in Chichester. They look after patients who need nursing care but who are unable to get to the surgery. Patients with more serious illness or long-term conditions who cannot get to the surgery may come under the care of the Community Matron, Verity Knight. Please contact reception if you think you may need to access the District Nursing Service.
Administrative staff
The administrative team comprises our team of hardworking Receptionists who you will meet on a day to day basis, but behind the scenes there is also Mrs Joanna Reiss, the Practice Manager who is responsible for the overall running of the Practice.
In addition we have three Dispensers; Linda, Monika and Michaela. They are all very experienced and will be happy to help with queries on medication. We should point out that we are only allowed to dispense to some of our patients. For further information about dispensing, see under DISPENSING.
The front line of Receptionists comprises Sue, Helen, Michelle, Regine, Goldie, Dee and Janina. They are your first point of contact and if they cannot help you, will be able to direct you to someone who can. Penny is our medical typist and if you are referred to a hospital by the doctor, it will be Penny who will be dealing with your referral.
